⚠️ What You Can’t or Shouldn’t Pack
Not Allowed by Law (DOT & Health Regulations):
Live animals or plants
Liquids and perishable food
Flammable substances or chemicals
Firearms and ammunition
Not Recommended (Trust Us on This):
Daily essentials like your toothbrush, medications, and chargers—keep these with you
Priceless personal items like heirloom jewelry, family photos, or anything that can't be replaced
Even though these items can technically move with us, no insurance can cover emotional value. If it would break your heart to lose it, keep it with you.
📦 What You Should Pack—and How to Pack It
Fragile Items
Wrap them with care:
2 layers of bubble wrap
1 layer of cardboard
Label them clearly as FRAGILE
Rule of thumb: If it would shatter when dropped, wrap it like a mummy.
Upholstered Items
Wrap all fabric-covered items (like mattresses, sofas, and dining chairs) in plastic covering.
Use mattress covers (also work for sofas with a little tape & creativity)
Use shrink wrap for chair seats and smaller upholstered pieces
TVs, Pictures & Mirrors
There are special boxes made for these items. Check stores like U-Haul, Home Depot, or Amazon for:
Flat-screen TV boxes
Mirror/picture frame boxes They come in different sizes, so you’ll find one that fits.
📦 Choosing the Right Boxes
Here’s your quick guide to box types and what they’re good for:
Box Type | Size (inches) | Volume (cubic feet) | Best For |
Small | 12x12x18 | 1.5 cf | Books, CDs, heavy items |
Medium | 18x18x16 | 3 cf | Kitchenware, toys, small appliances |
Large | 18x18x24 | 4.5 cf | Linens, clothing, towels |
Extra Large | 24x24x18 | 6 cf | Pillows, comforters, light bulk |
Dish Pack | 24x24x18 (padded) | 6 cf | Fragile dishes, plates, glasses |
